"U.K".

And to further confuse your quotation/punctuation dilemma. They do it differently in the UK. Punctuation always falls outside of the quotation marks there.

That's not true at all! The UK definitely keeps the periods and commas inside the quotes. A simple search of BBC articles will tell you that.

I used quotes today on my little status line on the profile page of facebook, and they put the period inside the quotes.

The debate rages on.
